Keep Moving Forward

Back when I was teeny weeny kid, we (my kuya, grand father and dad) would spend countless hours playing chess. We have greatly immersed ourselves in playing logical games, but chess was our favorite. With all the dedication that I have given, I was made part of the varsity team from elementary until high school.

One time, there was a question in the exam asking what among the chess pieces is the most important, the choices would be Queen, King, Bishop and Pawn. I actually laughed inside my head upon seeing the last choice. I mean seriously, what kind of moron who knows how to play chess would ever answer a Pawn? So I answered King. Yes, of course, I was correct (isn't it a shame if I got that wrong considering the damn fact that I was a varsity player?) but then a while ago, while playing with my kuya, I was making fun of the pawns and I said "keep moving forward". There, an idea struck me and told myself that, yeah. Pawns only keep moving forward, it is fearless and it doesn't and cannot go back. Once it's there, it's there and it was completely designed to move to a single direction until it finally reaches its desired destination... and that is none other than going to the other side of the board. To all who doesn't know what does that mean, once a pawn (and only a pawn) successfully makes it to the other side of the board, you can change it to any high rank official except a king. And yes, you can have 9 queens if you can send all those  soldiers to the other side of the board.

True to itself that king is the most important piece because losing it means losing the game, but then I can say that among all the chess pieces the one that can be used as a good inspiration is none other than a pawn. Why?

It only keeps moving forward.
It never backs down.
It is the main supporter of all the high pieces.
And when it reaches its final destination, it is rewarded and turns into one of the highest officials.

So, never back down, keep moving forward and once you reach your goal, you will receive a very fruitful achievement.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston

Your music and memory will live forever.
You are already missed.
I'm proud to say that I grew up listening to your music.

PS: I know the photo looks Rihanna-ish but I chose the photo out of tons out there because she looks different on this one.

God Bless You

Though Latin is a dead language, I've always been fascinated with it. One of the favorite languages people use for their tattoo designs. At point in time, I wanted to have it tattooed on my lower back but decided not to, 'cause it's a one-time-big-time decision. Once it's there, then there's no turning back. If ever I've made up my mind on having it on my back, then I'll post a photo.

Brush Your Teeth Typography

I really wanted to do this thing long time ago together with the brains joke but typography isn't as easy as you think it is. Yes, maybe the idea isn't too complex but when you try to juggle down all the words and lay them on your paper and render on your computer, it isn't easy as 1-2-3.

Hope you guys like it <3

A Steve Jobs Tribute

This is my little 'thank you' and at the same time 'good bye' to one of the most innovative people whom I never even get a chance to meet. The minimalist yet brilliant electronic medium I'm currently using is just   1 of the fruitful results of his amazing mind. You'll forever be remembered.
